I’M POSTING AN OLDIE BUT GOODIE SAGA FROM A FEW YEARS AGO.
SOME OF MY READERS REQUESTED ….AUNT BEATRICE, SO ENJOY.
Aunt Beatrice was celebrating the New Year aboard a ship heading towards Europe.
She couldn’t stay in Texas one more day…
she needed an adventure and what better place than on a ship.
All those crew members in white uniforms and big smiles.
Yes, this was what was needed this time of the year.
The Holidays were a sad time for Aunt B. she remembered
her family members who had passed away. especially her sister.
Yes, she still had Grandpa Jesse and her nephew, Jesse and his wife, Julia
and their twins, but she missed the family gatherings from when she was young.
When Aunt Beatrice traveled no one knows who she is so,
she could play any part she wanted just like in her local mystery drama club.
She would be the STAR. Oh, how she loved being the leading lady in the plays.
Aunt Beatrice even gets raving reviews each time she acts on stage…
and the red roses her fans bring her backstage; they put a smile on her face each time.
It’s so good to be alive.
This trip, her identity would be hidden from the other passengers,
only the crew knew who she was because she had sailed
with some of the crew members on past cruises.
They liked her because she was fun to talk to, with all those stories
about her so-called adventures with “a spy” organization and she tipped extremely well.
Of course, they didn’t believe a word of her secret missions stories.
Even though Aunt Beatrice wanted to keep a very low profile,
she had plenty of “work” to do aboard that big ship, like sight-seeing,
drinking cocktails, meeting strangers
and eavesdropping on passengers’ and crews’ conversations.
Maybe, there was a spy or two she could converse with aboard the ship.
A woman’s “work” is never done. At least that was what her mother told her.
Aunt Beatrice pulled out her journal
and wanted to write down ever thing that was happening…
But, first, she needed a cocktail. YES, a huge cocktail, a HOLIDAY SPARKLER.
Ingredients
3 oz. vodka
3 oz. Sparkling Ice Black Raspberry
1½ oz pineapple juice
ice
fresh cranberries, rosemary, orange slices for garnish
corn syrup and gold confetti sprinkles (optional)
Aunt Beatrice sat at one of the ship’s bars, which there were many to choose from. She preferred
one in back where she could watch the crowd walk by.
Maybe, there was a famous person on board, that would prove to be interesting.
Oh, how she loved celebrities, drama, mystery and all.
As she sipped her cocktail, a gentleman approached her.
“Is this seat taken?”
Aunt B. gave him the once over…no, not a celebrity but a very handsome guy.
“Be my guest.”
“Thank you. What are you drinking?”
Aunt Beatrice introduced the stranger to her newest drink, HOLIDAY SPARKLER.
“Do you have a name?” Aunt Beatrice asked.
“Yes. I’m Michael Majors.”
” You look British. Are you?”
“Yes, I’m originally from the UK.”
“Where do you reside now?”
“I’m here, there and everywhere.”
“Sounds like there is a few stories to be told.”
Michael Majors smiled and said, “Let’s have one of your drinks, Aunt Beatrice.”
“How did you know my name?”
