Happy Birthday to the QUEEN

The Queen, who turns 95 today, will spend her first birthday in more than seven decades without her “beloved” Prince Philip. She will mark the day privately at Windsor Castle.

・・・
Today is The Queen’s 95th birthday.
The Queen was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926 at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London.
She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York,
who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
This year Her Majesty remains at Windsor Castle,
during a period of Royal Mourning following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh.

MY NOTES

My wish for the Queen is happiness today.

THE QUEEN’S BROOCH

The Queen paid a sweet tribute to her family at the funeral of her beloved husband Prince Philip on Saturday – wearing her diamond Richmond brooch, which has a special story behind it.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II wore one of the largest brooches in her collection on Saturday as she attended her husband’s funeral.

Her Majesty bowed her head one last time at Prince Philip’s coffin before joining

the Dean of Westminster in St George’s Chapel.

The Queen inherited the brooch when Queen Mary, her Grandmother, died, in 1953.

She wore it during her post-Coronation Commonwealth tour but then seems to have put it away.

Only in her later years has it appeared again, worn for evening events

and a few special day engagements.

She has worn it both with and without the bottom pearl pendant.

Appearances:

17 April 2021: Funeral of The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

10 November 2018: Festival of Remembrance

19 May 2018: The Wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry & Meghan’s wedding)

10 June 2016: The Queen’s 90th Birthday Service

8 November 2014: Festival of Remembrance

2009: State Visit from India

2007: Festival of Remembrance

2000: State Visit to Italy, Papal Audience

The piece features a pearl drop detail, which is interchangeable.

The Queen chose to wear the brooch it without it for Saturday’s funeral.

Her Majesty, who is known to send special messages with her outfits,

no doubt wanted to wear something that reminded her of the Duke of Edinburgh

and their long and happy marriage.

The monarch also added her three-strand pearl necklace and earrings to her outfit,

a classic piece that’s widely regarded as part of her royal ‘uniform’.

MY NOTES:

As some of you know, who read and follow my blog, I have written in the past about the Queen’s brooches

and handbags. When I watched the funeral, live, on Saturday, I saw this brooch on the Queen’s

black outfit and immediately wanted to know which one she was wearing.

After a few days of searching, I FOUND IT!!

This brooch has a long and beautiful history.

Kate Middleton, a pearl necklace & a funeral

The Duchess of Cambridge wore Her Majesty’s Japanese Pearl Choker teamed with pearl drop earrings

Kate Middleton, 39, enjoyed a good relationship with Prince William’s late grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh

Her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have remained at home to watch the service.

Kate Middleton wears a diamond and pearl necklace from the Queen’s personal collection

as she and Prince William attend Prince Philip’s funeral.

The Duchess of Cambridge was the picture of dignified grace in Her Majesty’s jewels
at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral today.

Kate Middleton paid a touching tribute to both the Monarch
and to her own late mother-in-law as she wore the Queen’s pearl choker,
from Her Majesty’s personal collection,
to the poignant service in Windsor this afternoon.

The Japanese Pearl choker necklace was worn by Kate
for the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary dinner at Windsor Castle in 2017,
and by her late mother-in-law Princess Diana in 1982

The Queen asked for the four-row Japanese Pearl Choker to be made from ‘the finest cultured pearls’

which were a gift from the Japanese government.

Her Majesty in the choker in 1983. The Monarch wore the choker in the 1980s and 1990s,

and to a dinner celebrating former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s 70th Birthday in London in 1995.

The Queen loaned it to Diana, who loved pearls, for a banquet given by Queen Beatrix

and Prince Claus of the Netherlands at Hampton Court Palace during the Dutch royal family’s visit to the UK

– one of her first royal engagements a year after her marriage to Prince Charles.

The Duchess teamed a chic black £1,605 Roland Mouret dress with an asymmetrical neckline –

the same she wore for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance in 2018 –

with a black face covering and pillar box hat featuring a net veil.

She paired her outfit with the Bahrain Pearl Diamond Drop Earrings

which also came from Her Majesty’s private collection, and were also worn by Diana in 1982

The earrings were crafted from pearls gifted to the Queen and Philip from the ruler of Bahrain

at the time of their wedding in 1947.

The Duchess bowed her head as the procession made its way into St George’s Chapel,

in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

While William was joined in a bubble arrangement with his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, Harry sat alone
Inside the chapel, the couple were reunited and sat throughout the ceremony with their heads bowed

Mother-of-three Kate has not been seen since news of Prince Philip’s death was announced last week but the official Kensington Royal Instagram account shared a photo of the Duke of Edinburgh with Prince George in tribute.

Though she has taken part in numerous royal events over the years, today will be the first major royal funeral the duchess has attended.

Kate and Prince Philip enjoyed a good relationship, with Prince William saying he was thankful that Kate, who married into the royal family in 2011 after meeting William nearly a decade earlier, had ‘so many years’ to get to know his grandfather.

MY NOTES:

Yes, I got up early to watch the entire Funeral which was ROYAL in ceremony. I like to experience an event

like this in real time because you get to see it all. Not an edited version by the press.

Hope you had a chance to view the funeral in full glory today.

I want to end this story on a HAPPY NOTE, so I posted this photo below of Kate laughing

with Prince Philip; I think the Prince would like that photo.

May PRINCE PHILIP rest in peace.
