Rosy Regal Saga #15

You can dance, go and carry on ‘Till the night is gone and it’s time to go
If he asks, if you’re all alone Can he take you home, you must tell him, no
.

Rosy was thinking of the Drifters song…

"But don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms, you're gonna be
So darlin', save the last dance for me, hmm."

Not only was she thinking of the song but she
was silently humming it to herself.

Why this song?

Dancing the last dance with Spencer had put
a spell on her.
She was feeling something...was it the champagne?
Or was there an attraction to Spencer?

"Oh, I know that the music's fine (oh, I know, yes, I know)
Like sparkling wine go and have your fun
Laugh and sing but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone."

Rosy won round #1

Round #2 was still to be decided when Spencer and Rosy retreated

to the villa’s library as the party guests danced away.

Spencer closed the doors to the room. He couldn’t take his eyes

off of Rosy. She was captivating and confident.

Two words that scared him the most.

What could happen, can’t happen thought Spencer.

“Can we agree tonight that we discuss business in the morning?

I hate to spoil a perfectly planned party where my neighbors

are having a cheerful time, at my expense.”

Rosy was observing Spencer walking around the library

as he spoke. Was he nervous? No, he was too smooth

for that. What was he up to?

“Mr. Scott, I think you have a good idea. Let’s enjoy

the evening. There’s no rush.”

Spencer smiled and opened the library doors,

“Shall we dance, Miss Regal?”

It’s Party Time!!

Finally, the Gala party was in full swing. The villa was crowded with

neighbors, friends and a few odd party goers. Champagne was flowing

and Edward was busy with Eve serving appetizers to the guests.

“Looks as if everyone is enjoying themselves.”

“Yes, Edward everyone came to our soiree.” remarked Rosy, as she

surveyed the dance floor.

It was a few minutes before midnight when Spencer Scott arrived

at his villa to find a large crowd of people mingling in front of

his villa. He was surprised and angry.

“What’s the meaning of this, Edward?”

“Sir, I have been telling you that we have a problem.”

“Problem? This is an outrage. Where is that woman, Rosy?”

Rosy appeared almost instantly at the front door of the villa.

“Hello, Mr. Scott, I was wondering when you would make your

appearance and just like that, you magically appear.”

“So, you are the trespasser here. This is my personal home and

you have invaded it without my permission. I shall have you arrested.”

“Now, you hold on, Mr. Scott. I can explain. No need to call the authorities.

Why don’t you come in and join the party? Meet your neighbors in a happy

atmosphere. We wouldn’t want them to know your business of stolen

artwork, now, would we?”

Spencer took a hard look at Rosy. So, this was what he was up against.

A hardheaded woman who was beautiful and demanding.

“OK, you win this round.”

Rosy was excited about planning their upcoming

party at the villa.

She was sure it would be a hit and to be sure everyone got

an invitation, she had Edward personally delivered them

to all of Mr. Scott’s neighbors and friends in the area.

Who could refuse an invite to a big gala party? Especially

since the invites came with a bottle of Dom PĂ©rignon.

“Rosy, where did you get the champagne?”

“In Mr. Scott’s wine cellar. Edward showed me the entire contents

of his private cellar and tasting room.”

“Wow. Edward is really on board with our soiree.”

“Yes, he is a delightful soul. I think I will miss him.”

“I think I’m going to miss this villa, Rosy.”

Rosy Regal Saga #11

Claudia needed time to think about her past life.

Was she a good person?

Was she any good in a relationship?

Why did Gene Gregory really break up with her?

As Claudia was walking along, Rosy came up

behind her.

“So, did you make the call to Washington DC?”

“Yes.”

“And tell me what happened?”

“At first, Gene was Gene. But bottom line, I got the assignment

with you.”

“That’s great news. How did it feel talking to him? You never told

me where you have been for the past few years.”

“Oh, I know I haven’t discussed my travels with anyone. After I got

sprung from jail in Istanbul, I decided to quit working at the agency

because I felt they didn’t have my back.”

“What? They posted bail for you, Claudia.”

“Yes, the agency did do that but Gene broke up with me.

So, I said to myself, what the hell. I quit and decided to live off

of savings. That didn’t last long. I’m quite the shopper and

I love the high society lifestyle.”

“Claudia, where did you go after Istanbul?”

“Since I was barred and thrown out of the country, I travelled

to Spain. The southern part of Spain, Marbella. It’s on

the coast, Costa del Sol. It’s beautiful and a playground

for the rich and famous. I spent most of my time partying,

drinking and meeting young and old men. I had a marvelous

time until my money ran out.”

“Is that when you came to France?”

“How did you know that?”

“Someone was keeping tabs on you, and I know

someone who still cares about you.”

“Who? Gene?”

“You guessed it. But don’t let him know,

I told you. Let’s keep it a secret.”

Claudia laughed; she wasn’t much for keeping secrets.

Claudia wasn’t looking forward to making the call to

Washington DC, but she had to. She needed money, and

she needed it now.

Gene Gregory, head of the IRS, picked up his smart phone

and smiled to himself.

“I was expecting your call Miss Claudia Campbell, what

took you so long to give us your time? Money, I suppose?”

Claudia held her temper and proceeded to speak in

a mild matter to Mr. Gregory.

“You hit the nail on the head, I need money.”

“I’m sure you do better than that, Claudia.”

The polite gloves were off, and Gene Gregory was not

going to hold back.

“As I remember it, Claudia, our agency had to bail

you out of jail in Istanbul, Turkey because you couldn’t

follow their customs.”

“What customs? I refused to take my shoes off

before I entered a Mosque. Big deal.”

“Yes, it was a big deal. When you are on assignment

you must follow the rules. End of story.”

“OK, so I messed up. Besides, that was three years ago.

Can’t you overlook it and give me another chance?”

Mr. Gregory thought for a moment.

“The only reason, I am considering on rehiring you, Claudia,

Miss Regal could use help on her assignment in

France. She might be over her head. This Spencer Scott

is a sleazy one. He is dealing in stolen art and books.

I need you two to bring him down since he

is an American citizen and avoids paying his share

of taxes on his legal artwork through his art gallery

in Miami. Mr. Scott jets around the world on his

private jet and it’s difficult to track his every move.

You and Rosy need to get to know his moves.

Got it? Rosy can fill you in on more but for now

it’s a start. And good luck and don’t visit any Mosques

in France.”

“Yes, sir, got it. And thank you, Gene, I need this.”

“Well, what are Ex-lovers for but to help each other during rough

times. Be safe. I’ll talk with you soon. Bye.”

“Good-bye, Gene.”

Claudia was reading one of the books she found in the library.

“Hmmm, a first edition. This Mr. Scott is very well off if he invests

in first edition books.”

“What did you say, Claudia?”

“I noticed the artwork here in the villa, mostly

originals from famous painters. What gives?”

“I think we are about to discover where these artworks

are coming from.”

“What do you mean, Rosy?”

“Time will tell. Mr. Scott is due back in a day or two, so

we will ask him.”

“You are suspicious of him?”

“Claudia, that is why I am here at his villa. Have you

called Washington DC yet?”

“No, but I will.”

“Please call today and then you will know what we

are up against.”

Rosy and Claudia met up by the pool in the afternoon.

“What do you do all day?” asked Claudia.

“Little of this and that.”

“Aren’t you bored just sitting around and waiting for

Spencer Scott to return?”

“No, not really. Edward keeps me entertained.”

“That old chap? How?”

“Let’s move on, why don’t we. I spoke to Washington

and they will be interested in having you come aboard

on this project, if you like.”

“Oh, boy, would I. When do I start?”

“If you agree, they said immediately. Here’s the

phone number. You can call later.”

“Thank you, Rosy. You are a lifesaver.”

“You are welcome. Just don’t screw up this job.”

“I promise. I think we should celebrate. Let’s plan

a party, a soiree.”

“How big of a soiree?”

“You know a few guests, then a few more…oh,

it will be such fun.”

Edward, the butler, was puzzled why two ladies had moved into

the villa. But he kept his feelings to himself. He was sure

Mr. Scott would be home any day now and would take

care of the matter in his own way.

He went about his business and served the ladies

breakfast, lunch and dinner. He didn’t want to appear

“Off his game”.

Rosy Regal Saga #6

Claudia arrived at the villa early the next morning.

She drove her ex-boyfriend’s Porche to the villa because she figured

that would make a good impression. After all the drama he put her through,

she decided to keep it. That is until he came back and claimed it.

What’s a woman to do these days? Boyfriends are difficult to find

and keep.

“Good morning, Rosy.”

Clauda stood by the yellow Porche and waved at Rosy.

She wanted to make sure

she saw her.

Rosy stood at the upstairs window and waved back to Claudia.

“She knows how to put on an act.” Rosy said to Edward,

who was staring out the other window.

“Will your friend be staying too?”

“Yes, Edward, she will be staying as long as I’m here.

I need some company. When will Spencer be back at

the villa?”

“It’s hard to say. He’s a very busy man.”

“I’ll say he’s busy.”
