Sam Houston was making the final preparations for his guests
in Venice. He hired a private yacht for their use and stay.
Sam was sure that Misty would enjoy the yacht and be surprised too.
Yes, Sam was making a big deal about Misty’s visit to Venice.
He wanted her to meet his sons, Jimmie-John, Bradley and his two best friends,
James and Caroline Jamison.
Sam was taking a big step forward.
The day of Misty’s arrival was at hand.
Sam picked her up from the Venice Marco Polo International airport.
Misty was thrilled to see Sam patiently waiting when her flight arrived.
There he was standing with a dozen red roses.
She ran to him and greeted him with a kiss.
“Sam, it’s wonderful to see you.” Misty took the flowers from
Sam and smiled and said, “Thank you.”
“Come on, we are going to have a lot of fun this next few days,
I’ve invited some guests to join on the yacht.”
“Did you say, yacht?”
“That’s right, I’ve rented a yacht. I remembered you like being
on the water.”
“So, no cooking?’
“No, cooking or washing dishes. You can be a princess aboard the yacht.”
“I’m beginning to like this idea. You are spoiling me, Mr. Houston.”
“Yes, I am.”
“So, who are our guests?”
“You will have to wait until we get aboard and I’ll
introduce you.”
“That’s fair.”
Sam and Misty took a water taxi to the yacht that was anchored in the bay.
Standing on the deck of the yacht watching Sam and Misty,
arrive by water taxi, were James, Caroline and Sam’s two
sons. They all waved at the couple when they were still
in the water taxi.
“Sam, this is a surprise. Is that James Jamison and his wife
Caroline?”
“Yes, my best friends and the two boys are my sons, Jimmie-John and Bradley. They are anxious to meet you.”
“I will be honored to meet them, Sam.”
Misty was surprised with the fanfare, as she was assisted by Sam and James,
boarding the yacht.
Caroline are gracious and said kind words to Misty.
Sam introduced his sons to Misty one by one.
Misty had read about the boys in Sam’s Agency file.
She felt as if she knew them already. They were handsome young men with manners.
Bradley spoke a greeting in French to Misty and
she replied with speaking back to him in French, which delighted him.
Jimmie-John didn’t want to be left out of the conversation,
so he took Misty’s hand and kissed it.
“My, Jimmie-John, you are quite the ladies man, just like your dad.”
“You know that Sam’s my real dad and James is my other dad.”
“You are so lucky to have two handsome and powerful men as your dads.”
“Yes, I am.” They all got a laugh out that remake and Sam
moved them to an outer deck for cocktails and appetizers.
Of course, the young sons had fresh squeezed lemonade.
The conversation flowed between them until the steward announced
it was time for dinner on the upper deck.
Sam was very proud of his sons and how well they greeted Misty.
James and Caroline smiled at each other as they walked upstairs for dinner.
They were just as proud of Jimmie-John
as Sam was of him.
Caroline whispered to James, “So, what do you think of Misty?”
“She’s different from the others that Sam has been involved with before.
But, so far, so good. Besides, what’s not to like, she’s a top female agent.”
Caroline poked him in his side for that remark.
Dinner was being served early because of the boy’s bedtime.
Sam knew there would be plenty of adult and Misty time later in the evening.
After dinner and before dessert, Sam stood up to make
an official greeting of welcome to his guests.
“I want to thank all of you for coming to Venice and meeting Misty and me.
I hope you will enjoy your vacation with us.”
With that, Sam picked up one of three white roses on the table near him.
“Misty, I have this first white rose to give to you,
it represents the past; the second white rose represents the present;
and the last white rose represents our future.”
Misty looked down at the last rose that Sam presented her
and there was a very large diamond ring attached to the rose.
She froze and then picked up the diamond ring and looked at Sam
as he got down on one knee.
“Misty Mars, will you do the great honor of marrying me?”
Misty could barely speak but managed to say, “YES, Yes, Sam
I will marry you.” Sam kissed Misty as everyone clapped.
Well done, Sam. Well done.
