Aloha Saga #7

James and Caroline were still laughing about

James’ phone call to David at The Agency. It was funny

because David always gave them grief and this was pay back for some of the situations he had put them through.

Of course, James and Caroline were concerned about Ginger Way and her condition, so James placed a phone call to the local hospital. He found out that she was still surgery and that they

would have to sit tight and wait. After the phone call, James turned his attention to his wife, Caroline.

“So what are your plans today, Caroline?”

“Oh, the usual, this and that and flying to Paris, tonight.”

“What? Paris? When was this planned?”

“A few weeks ago. David asked me to fly out there

to check on that girl you liked so much in Paris. You know,

the magazine reporter….Victoria.”

“Why that sneaky guy. I wonder why he didn’t

mention it in our phone conversation?”

“Maybe, he wanted me to tell you.”

“Well, I’m glad you told me instead of leaving me a note.

You are not going to “take her out” are you?’

“Ahh…secrets and lies. You know I’m not allowed

to discuss the cases with you, James.”

“But, you are my wife, Caroline.”

“Yes, I know and you keep reminding me of that fact.

Come on, let’s get breakfast before the children wake up.”

Caroline kissed James.

“I have a better idea, Caroline.”

23 - A Dozen Pink Roses

David hung up his phone and immediately called his

secretary, Marie.

“Marie, now listen to me, I need you do a few

things for me at once. I need to find out the hospital

where Ginger Way is staying in Hawaii. That’s right, Oahu.

Send as many pink roses as the florist has this

time of the year. Yes, lots and lots of pink roses.

And note? No, no note, Ginger will know they

are from me.

Next, get me Hawaii Five-O.”

Marie was quickly taking notes from her boss,

David.

“You want me to contact a T.V. Show, sir?”

“No, get me the Captain of the police department

on Oahu. I’m sure they call themselves Hawaii Five-O,

those bastards. Jailing one of my agents. Oh, sorry, Marie. excuse the language,

as you can tell I’m upset. That will be all for now.

I’m leaving for Hawaii, as soon as I get the pilot

on the phone, to get my jet ready. Any questions?”

“No, sir. I’ll get right on this.”

Marie hung up her phone and looked at the time

and wondered, “Does this guy ever sleep?”

James picked up his, specially assigned smart phone,

to make a call to David at The Agency.

This was a call he

was not looking forward to this morning or any

morning. He knew how David can get upset quickly.

Caroline decided to exit the bedroom and make some early

morning coffee for James and herself. She didn’t need

to hear this phone call.

“James, this better be good at this hour of the morning.”

“David, good morning to you too.

Am I interrupting anything?”

“No, James, but how I wish you were.”

David was not having any luck with the ladies these

days and of course that set his mood off in a very bad

direction. James had heard those rumors

and chuckled to himself about David’s misfortunes

with women. Served him right, James thought.

“Sir, there’s a situation developing in Hawaii, and

I thought you might like to get a heads up first.”

“What’s up in Hawaii. Did the President sneak off for

another vacation without the Secret Service?”

James just laughed and replied, “No Sir, it’s about

one of your agents.”

“Go on, James.”

“Do you remember Ginger Way?”

Now, James had David’s full attention.

“Yes, of course. What’s up with Miss Way?”

“She’s been shot in Hawaii and is the hospital

over there.”

“What the hell is she doing in Hawaii? And

who was she with? What happened?”

David was firing questions at him at a rapid

pace. James was trying to keep up without laughing

out loud. Of course, James knew that Ginger Way

had been the mistress of David for a few years but after

the Grenada assignment, they broke up.

James was enjoying himself at this point. He wanted to see

if David was still interested in Ginger Way.

“Sir, she went on vacation to the islands.”

“Who…who did she go with to the islands?”

“She went with Sam Houston.”

“SAM HOUSTON!!! That ex agent? She went to

the islands on vacation with an EX AGENT!!”

David was screaming into the phone.

Caroline came walking back into the bedroom

carrying with two mugs of coffee when she

heard David screaming.

She handed a mug of coffee to James, who

took a few sips and continued his conversation

with David.

Caroline sat on side of their bed next to James and

cuddled up to him with her coffee.

“Sir, yes, that’s right. She was vacationing with Sam Houston

and got shot, at a luau, as a spectator.” James was smiling

knowing that David was getting more upset

as the conversation continued.

James filled him on the details and told him that

Sam was in jail.

When David hung up from James. He made

a few phone calls.

“Hello James?”

James received a early phone call from Sam.

“Sam? What’s wrong? Do you know what time it is

in Washington DC?”

“I’m afraid to ask what time it is there. We have a situation

here in Hawaii.”

“What situation and why are you in Hawaii, anyway?”

“James, it’s a long story but right now I need your help.”

“Sure, Sam, what’s up?” As James rolls over in bed

And shakes Caroline awake.

Caroline sits up in bed and looks at James with a very

sleepy face and yawns and then touches James’ arm

and smiles.

James kisses Caroline lightly on her cheek and smiles

back at her. He was waiting for a response from Sam.

“James, I’m afraid, I have some bad news about Ginger.”

“You mean Ginger Way? Where are you again?”

“Jail? For what, Sam? Did you shoot her?”

“No, of course not, James. We were on a vacation

in Hawaii, when there was attack at the luau we were

attending. There was a shooter. He went crazy and

started shooting people and unfortunately, Ginger

was in his site and she got shot.”

“How badly was Ginger shot? Which island are you

two on; you know there’s many Hawaiian islands?”

“Ginger was taken to the hospital, here on Oahu.”

“Okay, but why are you in jail?”

“The police think I was involved because I had a

gun and used it to try to stop the shooter. They

are not listening or believing my story, James.”

“What do you want me to do for you?”

“It’s not so much for me, but I think Ginger’s wounds

are serious. I don’t know a lot but I thought you better

call David at The Agency and fill him in on the

situation. It’s better coming from you than me.”

“Sam, I’ll take care of it. Sit tight and I’ll be back

in touch with you.”

“Thanks, James. I’ll be sitting here just waiting.”

“You are being sarcastic. Just relax, and know we will be doing

everything to help you.”

Sam decided to take Ginger to an official

Hawaiian Luau for the evening.

There would be plenty of dancing and music

and then there would be time

for romance.

Sam was trying to please Ginger the best

way he knew how.

“Oh Sam, this Luau looks like fun and there

will be plenty of dancing. It’s festive and

I love it! Thank you for thinking of a traditional Luau.”

“Come on over here, Ginger. We can sit right up

front. This way you won’t miss a beat.”

“How sweet, Sam.” As she kissed him.

A local Hawaiian girl came over to Ginger and

put a flower lay around her neck.

Sam was next to receive a flower lay when

he noticed something going on behind the stage area.

Was someone fighting or what? He didn’t think

it was part of the show. He excused himself from Ginger

and went to investigate the scene.

“Is there something wrong back here?” Sam asked.

“Why don’t you mind your own business, Buddy, unless

you want to get hurt.”

Sam was not going to back down, so he pulled his gun

out of his jacket and stared down the big Hawaiian.

“I am minding my own business. What are you doing?”

Shots rang out and the Luau crowd went scattering

into the night and on to the beach.

The sun was setting over the lovely Hawaiian islands.

Sam was in love and Ginger was on the fence about

their relationship.

Should she stay or should she go?

They were staying at a lovely hotel on the beach with all

of the amenities. It was Ginger’s style and she would

enjoy herself until she decides to leave and fly back

to Washington DC. After all, she knew that David would take her back

and they would continue their affair. That’s what’s

so much fun to be in your twenties. Lots of choices in men.

Ginger was not ready to settle down, yet. She liked it

when heads turned when she walked into a room.

She was beautiful and she knew it.

“Ginger, are getting ready for dinner?”

“Yes, Sam, I’m getting ready for a night of dancing.”

“Dancing? I was thinking of something more romantic;

Just the two of us.”

“Sam, there’s plenty of time for romance. Don’t spoil

the mood of the islands. I feel it. I want to dance

until dawn.”

put that Jeannie bottle?”

After leaving Grenada, Ginger and Sam flew to

Hawaii. Their location was top secret according to

Sam Houston. He didn’t want anyone to find them

for weeks and weeks. Ginger on the other hand

wanted people around, night life, shopping and plenty

of those drinks with umbrellas in them.

Ahh, was this a relationship that would last?

“Sam, why don’t you go down to the pool and order

us some drinks. I’m thirsty for one of those rum drinks.

And make mine a double, please.”

“That was the magic word, please. It must have been

a long flight for you, Ginger. Sorry, they ran out of

alcohol on the flight over to the islands.”

“That’s not funny, Sam. I hate flying regular airlines.”

“I know, my dear, you like first class all the way. Just

remember, I’m flat broke after losing all of my fortune

in Argentina. That winery was a bust. I never should have

invested all of my money into it.”

“Don’t worry. I made plenty of money on my last assignment

with The Agency in Grenada. Too bad I had to shoot that guy.”

“You know you didn’t tell my the whole story about

you and Caroline, stranded on that raft. How did it

happen?”

“Sam, are our drinks coming soon? I’ll tell you after

a few rum drinks with umbrellas in them. My, oh my,

it’s going to be a beautiful sunset.”

James landed in Grenada a few hours ahead of Sam Houston.

He headed to the local hospital to see about Caroline’s and

Ginger’s condition.

David had called James a few times to express his apologies

to him for sending Caroline into this mess. James assured

him that he understood that it’s “The Way  We Are”..

in The Agency.

When James did enter the hospital he was told

that the doctor was checking the women out

and to have a sit and wait.

Another couple of hours, James finally got to see Caroline.

“James, what are you doing here?”

“I came to rescue you, my love.”

“I don’t need to be rescued. I’m fine and so is Ginger.

But, I can’t say that William Wright is fine, he’s dead.”

“Oh my, Caroline, what happened?”

“Ginger, shot him.”

“What?”

“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you some day.

Are the children okay?”

James just laughed and hugged Caroline

and then kissed her. “Yes, we are all fine.

When will they let you out of here?”

The doctor happened to walk by Caroline’s room and popped

his head in to check on his patient.

“Congressman Jamison, your wife can leave

any time she wants.”

“Caroline, that’s great news. Let’s get you

checked out of here and go away to continue

our honeymoon.”

“Where would that be, James?”

“Barbados, my love. It’s where it all started

for us.” James kissed Caroline. He was

the happiest man alive because his wife

was alive.

THE WAY WE ARE SAGA #24

James sat on the plane going over phone calls and texts from

many of his friends and co-workers who didn’t know what

was going on in his world.

The pilot of the plane came back to where James was sitting.

“Congressman, I think you will like to see the live feed coming

from a local news station on the island.”

James thanked him and watched The Coast Guard in action.

He could see that The Coast Guard reached the drifting

raft and were about to discovery if there was anyone

on the raft.

James silently prayed that Caroline and Ginger were on

that raft and were safe and alive.

The first figure he saw , was of a woman, climbing out of the raft into

The Coast Guard’s boat. James couldn’t make out her

face but was pretty sure it was Ginger. But, where

was Caroline?

Another prayer and then a long wait until he saw another

figure moving in the raft. Caroline, Caroline, is that you?

The TV camera came in closer to the figure and James

could see that it was indeed Caroline.

“Thank you, Lord.” James said out loud and held

back his tears.

James couldn’t watch anymore. Now, he knew that Caroline

was at least alive along with Ginger.

The pilot announced that they were landing in Grenada.
